mommy doens't say "acquistion", mommy says "learning".. like Susie says, like James Asher says, if we want to learn how we learn language, look at how mommy teaches baby

mommy does not:

• use big fancy words with baby
• test baby knowledge of grammar
• punish baby for incorrect grammar

mommy does

• nourish baby
• interact with baby
• love it when baby talks

really.. learning isn't about feeling bad.. learning is about feeling good.. so why not simplify "acquisition" to "study" so learning can mean learning?..

a problem with telling people that "learning" (meaning study} is bad and that acquisition is better is that it's confusing.. claiming that "learning" only means a part of itself is confusing.. people use the basic word "learning" to mean so many things:

ask yourself: what does the word "learning" make you think of? for me right off the top of the head, this:

se aprende en el gerundio.. we learn by doing.. to learn the ropes

memorize the rules, pass the test..

if you don't there is hell to pay..

• a bad grade
• a lousy job.. no money
• rejection

• good grades
• better job, more money
• approval

[edit] work

maybe you don't want to do it but you have to do it.. deal with it

[edit] acquistion

"internalizing".. getting it in the gut.. with no doubt.. instinctive.. no processing time.. total belief.. an article of faith

grammar just sounds right or wrong, whether or not you know the rule explicitly

[edit] happens to happen

• learner focused on the meaning
• in the flow
• feeling good
• really learning

meaningful input stays in long term memory.. it's not forgotten after the exam

a game or play acting a roll, maybe fun and funny.. always real

trying.. ever tried, ever failed.. no matter.. try again, fail again.. fail better..
