reading helps us learn language, assuming we even get the chance to learn how to read.. in storyasking there are a few ways to read:

[edit] repeat reads

after a story is asked, repeats serve to confirm new language that is defined and connected.. maybe the most effective way to confirm a story is to reread it.. this means the the story that was asked is written in text, so players now read the story, supported by familiar context or "background knowledge" .. by reading and rereading the story, it is replayed in the player's imagination.. language gets learned..

[edit] free reading

free reading means to read any material you like, provide you can already comprehend a high percentage (75-95%) of the text.. known language and context are used to step up to new language.. but that happens in the background.. the critical factor in free reading is learner selected text.. the player chooses text that the player is interested in.. Stephen Krashen says free reading really helps us learn language.. what kind of stuff do you like to read?

[edit] twext

twext is an experimental text tool that supports text you're learning with subliminal translations in language you already know.. somewhat similar to the translation process used in TPRS.. but a little different because the twext translation is barely visible, so you focus on the language to learn..
