step up

step up maybe be simpler storyasking language to say the same thing as "scaffolding" or that "1+?=i forgot" krashen equation i can't remember now.. basically, if you know some language, you can use it to help define and connect with some new language.. from words with meanings already established, you can step up to learn new words.. "stepping up" has a kind of a kinesthetic TPR feel.. simple.. "stepping up" can be also imagined like climbing a mountain.. one step at a time.. step by step.. the view gets a little better with each step.. "stepping up" also aligns with transition from baby talk and communication toward more correct academic language.. primero gateas, luego caminas FIRST CRAWL, LATER WALK "structure" and "scaffolding" are kind of mechanistic images.. as if language is only some kind of building or city.. why exclude hunters, gatherers, farmers, ranchers? not everyone lives in skyscrapers but almost everybody knows what walking is.. or climbing mountains.. or climbing stairs.. step.. up.. see.. more.. |
