trademark

trademark is language that is not free.. a trademark is language used commercially, to sell something to the public.. trademarks, as language, do have some limits.. language goes some places that trademarks can not go:

  • not nouns: don't say "xerox" say "xerox® copy"
  • not verbs: don't say "xerox this" do say "copy this with a xerox® copy" google® is a little worried about this because google is often used, in public, as a verb.. to learn more, just google "google trademark verb"

trademarks, to be strong, must be used as adjectives.. trademarks, to be strong, must be legally defended.. not only when someone else may be confusing the public by using the same or similar name for same or similar service, but even is the public starts misusing a "mark" in noun or verb form.. defense of trademarks happens in the form of threats and acts of nastygramming and lawsuits.. scary..

storyasking fully respects the TPRS® language instruction method trademark.. obviously, there would be no storyasking without the TPRS® method, the great work of Blaine Ray, Susie Gross, Ben Slavic and so many others.. (all of us and anyone are invited to transform this wiki)

storyasking doesn't want to compete with the TPRS® method.. storyasking wants to freely promote awareness, evolution and wider use of the TPRS® method.. promotion not only to teachers in institutions, but reaching out to anyone learning language.. around the world, more people asking stories and sharing language learning might be a good thing(TM)..

in this world, in these days, so much fear.. maybe there's some fear around the idea of "intellectual property".. still, of all ways of trying to own ideas, trademarks may be most apt to adapt to digital commerce.. trademarks aren't about trying to stop digital copies or trying to get paid for some old invention.. trademarks are about ongoing reputation or brand.. trademarks are about relationship and trust..

nevertheless, trademarks mean lawyers and money®.. but this noun "storyasking" just ain't goin' there; storyasking is a noun, not a trademark.. storyasking isn't a name to define a brand or version of a thing.. there is no such thing as a "storyasking method"; storyasking is rarely used as an adjective.. to storyask is a simple action.. "to storyask" is a verb.. so boys and girls, please feel free "to storyask".. storyasking is free..
